Welcome to New Orleans and the 50th ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting & Exhibition.  50 years ago, the very first Midyear meeting had 254 registrants.  Today, ASHP expects more than 20,000 pharmacy professionals from over 100 countries to attend.  While the meeting has grown substantially in size, the core goal remains: bringing health system pharmacists together with industry professionals to share knowledge, network with colleagues, enhance skills, and discuss the challenges and opportunities within health system pharmacy.

One challenge that we hear consistently when we talk with our customers is the pressure to significantly lower their cost structure to maintain financial performance.  We’ve found that most hospitals and health systems must reduce operating expenses by upwards of 20%, all while improving the quality of care.

For health system pharmacy, this is a dramatic shift that requires new ways of thinking and innovative approaches to medication management. We believe it demands focusing not only on labor efficiency, but also on decreasing drug spend and leveraging data enterprise-wide to better control the pharmacy supply chain.

We look forward to exploring these ideas with you at several events throughout the week and to sharing how Aesynt is working collaboratively with our healthcare partners to tackle this problem.
